It premièred in January 2002 on French public broadcaster France 5 and is aimed at a wide audience, deaf and hearing alike, acting as a "bridge of understanding" between both. Each film centres on a particular topic that allows the deaf and the hearing to exchange their points of view on the world.
The show looks at a great variety of subjects touching the deaf: political activism, sexuality, holidays and travel, how to cope with illness, war or natural disasters, the life of deaf professionals and artists, the situation of deaf people in other countries around the world and many other issues. Please also check out the series for the young on how to learn sign language.
The programme ventures abroad several times during each season to cover specific stories such as SUPER HIRO, the deaf base ball player in Japan.
