08. MY FATHER, A MAN OF COMMITMENT
Director(s): Audrey SANGLA – Writer(s): Audrey SANGLA Contact Print page
Like many deaf people of his generation who grew up in an oral environment, he came to realise the value of his deaf identity, culture and language only late in life.
His actions have contributed to providing the community with visibility in society and a better future. He was notably the first director making a film for ‘L’œil et la main’.
Today, his daughter Audrey is behind the camera to share the legacy he passed on to her. Although she is also deaf, she no longer lives in the same world as the one in which her father lived, partly thanks to his commitment.
So, by painting her father's portrait, she bears witness to the improved situation for deaf people enjoy in today’s society.
