Today, he returns to get together with those he knew in the past, those who shared the last years of his mother’s life: the café owners. Far from living a golden retirement on the Côte d'Azur, Scoffier, Tonin, Poupon and Marinette, are dependent on the fate of their family business.
There is no way they can afford to serve a final round and close up. What’s more, with the desertification of local shops and businesses, these senior workers of the fourth kind have also become the last guarantors of a "neighbourhood life" that disappears.
Together with his filmmaker wife, the director immerses us into their daily lives, revealing a human comedy made of small worries and grand designs. A return visit that looks at the importance of roots, social ties and memories.
A film on family made by family.
