Relations between Britain and France function on the basis of “I love you...me neither”, particularly since the Hundred Years’ War.
But that chapter of French (or British) history is not necessarily well-known by the deaf community ...whether they are French or British.
So, we gave ‘carte blanche’ to Louis Neethling, a British deaf director , to make a film of his journey into all things French... British.
How does he view France and the French? Could it be that these mutual historic prejudices between the two enemy brothers - and close neighbours! – are diluted by a common understanding of the sign language?
