Bruno and Mireille are traditional bee keepers in France’s Lot region. During the season, they keep moving their bee hives to the best places for pollen collection. A stressful and tiring operation for bees and keepers. One day, on the banks of a canal, Bruno hit on an idea: he installed his bees on the deck of a canal boat, set up his honey factory in the hold and settled his family in the former captain’s quarters. He could thus move his bees along the canal, produce and sell the honey from his boat. Despite many initial obstacles, the “Pahlène” is today happily cruising on the canal near the Garonne river in pursuit of sunflowers.
