Diabetes is an invisible disease, which nevertheless takes up an important place in the daily lives of those who suffer from it. Estelle, 20, and Amélie, 17, have type 1 diabetes, the least common form of diabetes that often begins in childhood.
Their body no longer produces insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. They must therefore constantly anticipate situations, calculate adequate doses and carbohydrates, readjust their meals, their physical activity and many other parameters, to achieve the best possible balance.

These two young girls share with us their daily lives and the heavy implications of this disease. How do you reconcile your desire for independence with the constraints imposed by diabetes? How do you cope with a disease that will stay with you for life?
