Recently, recognition and speech synthesis applications such as AVA or Roger Voice have emerged.
They promise deaf people that they will be able to follow a group meeting, access a conference or receive phone calls through a written transcript sent directly to their smartphone.
The media present them as a revolution in the lives of the deaf. But is this a real step forward towards full accessibility? Are there any limits to these technologies? Do they represent an obstacle for communication in sign language?

Laurent Valo investigates, meeting inventors, entrepreneurs, researchers and activists.

AVAILABLE FOR SCREENING: original French (commentary, sub-titles, signing)
