NGOs, non-governmental organizations, provide humanitarian aid to populations in difficulty or in distress on all continents, for example Médecins sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders).

A number of communities however, including the deaf, are excluded from these aid programmes which have been designed for the greatest number. At Médecins sans Frontières in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Louise is trying to sort out this situation by relying on resource persons.

To reach the deaf population, and overcome their glaring lack of information, she’s been training Thérèse, who is, deaf, so that she can now organise preventive actions on HIV-AIDS, family planning and more recently, COVID 19.
