Bipolarity is estimated to affect between 1 and 2.5% of the population in France, if not more. Indeed, this mental illness remains very difficult to diagnose and is little known to the general public.

A bipolar person experiences a succession of very dark depressive phases and so-called “manic” phases of great euphoria and excitement. This is the case of Marie, a deaf nurse, and Jacques, who is author of comic strips and a hearing person. Their personal testimony, echoing the explanations of experts, helps us to better understand this complex illness. Both of them hope their contribution helps to improve support for bipolar people and to change the way we look at them.
