Wallès Kotra was born in New Caledonia (a ‘special collectivity’ of France), then grew up in mainland France in an environment where the majority of people were white. His skin colour and his origins have never been an issue: he has always felt a deaf person above all, living in a world of the hearing.
Now, after the death of George Floyd and the creation of the "Black Lives Matter" movement - this outcry against violence perpetrated against blacks - shook him deeply. So he is meeting with those, deaf or hearing, who have suffered racism: how do you cope when you’re constantly getting a negative image of yourself because of the colour of your skin?
Can deafness protect us from racism in some way? Amandine Gay, Rokhaya Diallo, Grace Ly, Stéphanie Archimide, Lilian Thuram and Eric Fassin share their experiences, their analysis and their concrete actions to change things.

AVAILABLE FOR SCREENING: original French (commentary, sub-titles, signing)
