At the end of the 70s, in keeping with the great social movements, an individual and collective awareness took place among the deaf.
They demand the right to take into their own hands what directly concerns them: it became known as the “Réveil Sourd”, the deaf awakening. International Women's Day is an opportunity to pay tribute to Arlette Morel, Chantal Liennel and Martine Brusque, three actresses of this “Réveil Sourd”.

Thanks to the strength of their commitment, their determination and their personality, they have greatly contributed to improve the social situation, education and culture of the deaf and the recognition of sign language.
