ALZHEIMER ADVENTURE (THE)
Director(s): Marie-Pierre JAURY – Writer(s): Marie-Pierre JAURY Contact Print page
At the heart of this film are Jo-Elle, Elisabeth, Alain, Michèle and Christiane. All of them are affected by Alzheimer's disease, knowing that they have to face getting lost in it, be it in pain or laughter, revolt or silence… sometimes in the secret hope of finding the light that will allow them to end it.
This film is intended as a personal and collective foray into the chaotic maze that this disease represents for those who are affected by it. How to live with this unavoidable loss of self and of others? How to keep in touch with loved ones when we see they are feeling lost and feel they are losing us?
Patients and carers alike are confronted with these questions as the disease takes them on this “human adventure” that has become a facet of our modern lives.
THE PRESS:
** "It doesn't hurt, but it destroys your ego" this is how a woman suffering from the disease sums it up... Deeply moving and of rare sensitivity, the film by Marie-Pierre Jaury is an echo of what she experienced with her father ..."
Emmanuelle Skyvington (Télérama - 16/09/20)
** "Often described through the eyes of a loved one, Alzheimer's disease is more rarely told by those who experience it. It's what makes Marie-Pierre Jaury's documentary so strong and original..."
Jeanne Ferney (La Croix - 22/09/20)
** "The camera does not appear in the role of a voyeur. It rather is like ... the mirror of lives that unravel. With total respect for the men and women who agreed to share their stories..".
Gérald Rossi (L'Humanité - 22/09/20)
