In France, on the initiative of Dr. Jean Dagron and his team, special health care units in sign language offer deaf patients consultations and services in their language.
This experience has become a model that inspires other countries, such as Uruguay. In Montevideo, a health care unit in sign language was created in 2012.
Sadly, this set-up is now suffering from a lack of deaf mediators or doctors who master sign language...
Filmmaker Laurent Valo follows Dr. Jean Dagron in order to better understand the reasons for this regression and to take the full measure of the efforts that remain to be undertaken for this type of care units to be established around the world.
