2015, A YEAR MARKED BY TERROR

The year 2015 was marked by terror attacks in Paris, as well as in Europe and beyond. From the attacks of Jan. 7, 2015 to the carnage of November 13; from the Copenhagen attack of Feb. 14 to the shootings in Tunisia. The film follows the chronology of events and analyses the growing violence that undermines and questions our society as a whole.
Why has France become a prime target of a new global terror, perpetrated by young people born or raised in Europe? While a commemorative march, with millions of citizens in the streets of Paris, had been organised in response to the January events, any such gatherings were banned after 13 November... The government declared a state of emergency for three months which had been approved almost unanimously by the National Assembly (minus six MPs).
How to fight terror on your own territory and beyond your borders? Is it legitimate to suspend some of our democratic rules in the name of safeguarding democracy?

“The documentary has the merit of replacing the Paris attacks in the international context of 2015, such as the attacks in Copenhagen of Feb. 14 (two killed), the attack on the Bardo Museum in Tunis of March 18 (twenty-two dead). Or the shooting on a Tunisian beach near Sousse (39 tourists killed) and the attack on a police bus in Tunis on Nov. 24 (13 dead). Not to mention the bomb that killed 224 passengers of a Russian airliner in Egypt last October. “
