“Hellfest” is an annual music festival which takes place 30 km south-east of the city of Nantes. Billed as an “extreme music fest”, the event features a mix of heavy metal, hard rock, punk and hardcore music. Since 2006, the picturesque town of Clisson with its 7000 inhabitants has become the stage for an international event with 120 000 festival goers from over 50 countries.
Two worlds seemingly poles apart - provocative vs. conservative – clash for 3 days, upsetting the tranquil course of life in Clisson...its medieval castle, the church and ancient market halls, the winding streets and green meadows turn into mega campsites. The town is swamped with a Gothic wave, an assortment of black and white angels who weave satanic sounds into church songs...
At the hairdresser’s tongues are wagging yet again about the festival's history. At the bakery, the shop owner is delighted at this influx of hungry clients and the local super market stacks up beer bottle pyramids and other refreshments in anticipation of the thirsty throng...
“Hell of Angels »tells the story of an unlikely yet successful match - a kind of attraction of opposites - where the ‘provocateurs’ are maybe not the ones you’d expect…
