JAPAN, ASPHALT SAMURAIS

The Japanese sometimes pride themselves to own the world’s most beautiful trucks. In a country that holds beauty in high esteem, trucks are quite often true works of art on wheels: covered in frescoes of samurai warriors, garlands of light and sound effects.
The embellishments are continuously altered, changed and improved by the truck drivers, who don’t mind spending a considerable part of their wages on their hobby.
Fish transport between the island of Hokkaido in the north of Japan and the auction halls in Tokyo is a profitable business. Hasegawa Hitoshi and Hiromi Tsunakawa are old hands at this particular stretch of road of1500 km. These two asphalt Samurais are used to travelling the width and length of the entire archipelago. On board their truck, we discover a surprising and unexpected Japan!
