In the Spanish province of Andalucia traditions are held in high esteem. Folk art and traditional ways of life are not just a tourist attraction, it is the essence of the Andalucian heritage – and bull fighting is the very symbol of this heritage. For the aficionados it is an art form, the beauty and precision of the movement counts for as much, if not more, than the final outcome. It is a courageous battle between the ‘toro’ and the matador.
The bulls are brought in by trucks. Their cargo is considered almost sacred and the ‘camioneros’, aware of their responsibility, are doubly careful when loading and transporting the animals. Traditionally, the bull fighting seasons starts in June and ends in October. During these months, a series of trucks criss-cross the region, transporting the bulls between the stock farms, the grazing lands and the arenas where the corridas take place.
