They discover that lookikng after troubled teenagers often means facing violence and suffering on a daily basis. It also demands questioning their own positions, learning how to maintain the right distance and perspective although they are only a few years older than the young people in their care.
The results are often hard to assess but are none the less very real. At a time, when society demands harsher penalties and more imprisonment , when different kinds of juvenile prisons are being opened across the country, the three 'educateurs' have chosen to believe that the answer is education rather, than punishment.
