“Japan in Ruins » is the second part of Japan's WWII story, continuing the events after «Tokyo, the Day the War Ended».

When peace was signed on September 2, 1945, the country was in near chaos. Japanese society had been crushed and bled dry. 9 million Japanese were homeless, the nation was starving.
The return of those millions of men and women who were out of the country would take place over a period of 10 years.
We met seven of them who returned in the 1940’s and ‘50’s. Their personal memories are a moving and powerful testimony to history.
