Scott Alan Prouty and his choir of 42 children prepare for their concert at the « Choralies », a well-known festival for amateur singers.
Since 1991, some forty children between the ages of 9 and 16 come together in the amateur choir « Sotte Voce » near Paris. They take part in performances or give their own concerts.
Each year, six or eight new children join the choir – the little ones of 10 years in the front, the older ones in the back. The oldest stay until they are 16, some boys leave earlier when they voices break. They remain children above all : they have fun, fool around and enjoy the music !
It’s not by chance that this joyaus little group has such great stage presence - it’s thanks to founder-director Scott Alan Prouty, an American who has been living in Paris for over 20 years. He comes from the musicals : you sing with your voice, your face and your body.
Throughout the year, he rehearses twice a week with the children. He prepares their choreographies but leaves room for them to improvise. With him, singing lessons are a game – a demanding but fun game!
