SUEZ, NASSER THROWS DOWN THE GAUNLET
Director(s): Alexandre DOLGOROUKY Contact Print page
From July to November 1956, between the banks of the Nile and the royal palace in Rabat, a full-scale colonial "soap opera" was unfolding, which would leave the dreams of the former great powers of Europe shattered forever.
Alternating archive footage and interviews, two main themes emerge: the Fourth Republic in France, its army and its attempts to control the Algerian uprising; Israeli efforts to ward off the permanent Arab threat posed since 1947. All to be seen against the backdrop of British relations with the USA and the UN.
