Each year, Liliane, a Colombian biologist flies to the island of Gorgone on the Pacific coast to observe, film and record the humpback whales of the region. Her aim is to demonstrate that the coast is a vital reproduction area for some hundred of these large, peaceful animals. With her friend Juan, she fights to get the area protected, but in her country, defenders of nature sometimes have to face violent opposition from those who see their ecological concern as a threat to their interests.
