"The piano is the hottest thing in China at the moment - 50 million children are studying it. It's huge !"
China is changing profoundly and the will to "succeed" transcends all layers of society. But why the piano ?
We speak to Fou Ts'ong, the first Chinese pianist who achieved recognition in the West. He won the Chopin competition in 1955. Today, the piano is something of a passport to the future for the single-child family.
China has bred a whole generation of child prodigies, true little emperors of their art, ready to take the world by storm. Just like young pianist LANG LANG who is being praised by his peers and audiences alike. He is today as much at home in the major concert halls as he is in front of our camera.
His talent and his engaging nature bring a refreshing quality to this homage to the piano and its music...
