“A missing day” is an account of what happened over thirty years ago in Paris on the 17 October 1961 during the Algerian war.
It deals not only with the historical truth but also with memory. Built mainly on interviews of those involved in the events, together with archive footage, photos and radio material from the time, our inquiry proves that more than 200 Algerians were killed (either drowned or tortured) by the French police on that night and over the following days.
“A missing day” attempts to ask two key questions: How could such events take place in the capital city of one of the Western democracies only some thirty years ago? And why have they been veiled in silence ever since ?
AVAILABLE FOR SCREENING: French version only.
