December 17th, 1773. At a three days’ voyage from the Chinese port of Canton, in the East China Sea, the English vessel “Royal Captain” is on the first part of its return voyage of over 6000 miles. After one year at sea, the Royal Captain returns home, carrying a fortune in its hold.

So far, the sea and the weather had favoured its journey. But disaster lurks just under the waves: the ship runs to ground in un-chartered shallow waters. Two centuries later, French explorer Franck Goddio, organises an expedition to discover the shipwreck and to find the sunken treasures of the Royal Captain.
