What has happened to the “Big Bands”, those fabulous entertainment machines born in post-war U.S.A.? We look at the history of this particular type of orchestra, from it’s decline with the appearance of rock n’roll to its transformation through jazz-rock and its current revival. A revival that is particularly strong in France where the National Jazz Orchestra now attracts other talented ensembles in its wake, offering a whole new life to brass formations.
