An illustrated history of Albania, from its creation at the turn of the century to Sali Berisham’s election in 1992, first democratically elected president. A filmic recollection of great historical events and the larger-than-life individuals that participated in them (the Balkan wars, King Zog, Enver Hoxha).

Relying on hitherto unseen archival footage, this historical exposé of a region plagued by a chronic instability documents that the fragile peace that followed the fall of communism had always been threatened… and was but an illusion.
