In its magical setting and with its cupolas and white marble minarets, the Taj Mahal is the jewel of the ancient Indian capital of Agra. And it is first and foremost one of the greatest love stories of all times. A sumptuous mausoleum built by a disconsolate emperor for his beloved princess who died so young. Today, the Taj Mahal is one of the most visited monuments (5 million visitors per year) and it is a must for anyone who travels to India. Undisturbed by the floods of tourists, some hundred and fifty men and women are busy around the landscaped gardens and in the shadows of the Taj Mahal.. They continually repair and restore, keeping the monument very much alive. Their tales are the chapters of this film. They are also living proof of the age-old bond between the monument and the people who keep the dream alive.
