Since early 2015, Europe has been facing a massive influx of refugees fleeing conflict in their home country.
Germany’s reaction has been exceptional. At the end of August, the government announced that it would meet this new challenge and welcome refugees in great numbers. In Hamburg, the deaf community wanted to take part in the handling of the refugee crisis like the rest of the population.
Laurent Valo, from the team of « L’œil et la Main », went to Hamburg to witness the daily reality of the work of volunteers and the support provided to refugees - deaf and hearing alike.
