BACK TO CHICAGO

The citizens of Chicago on the challenges that await the president in his 2nd term.

At the eve of the the 2012 elections, we wanted to find out what had in fact been accomplished by President Obama since the night of his election in 2004, that moment so fuelled by hope and optimism? How have his actions affected the everyday lives of the people of this city – a microcosm of the United States – and how it affects their vote in the forthcoming elections.
Chicago, the most American of American cities. Its history and culture are in fact a mirror to the nation. The city has a very diverse economy based on historically important industries: manufacturing, printing and publishing, finance and insurance. Chicago is one of the nation's most densely populated cities, the most ethnically diverse…and it is also one of America's most racially divided cities. Racial violence is a daily occurrence and the poverty level is the second in the nation. Unemployment is above the national average, and public healthcare is a necessity for the economically diverse population…
The film looks at Obama’s key initiatives such as the Economic Stimulus Plan, the Housing Plan, the Auto Bailout, the Wall Street Reform, the Health Care Reform and how these reforms are perceived by the people. The personal stories of the residents of this vibrant and diverse city illustrate the successes and failures of the first Obama presidency... and highlight the hopes and expections for his second term of office.
