China is changing profoundly and the will to "succeed" transcends all layers of society. But why the piano ? We speak to Fou Ts'ong, the first Chinese pianist who achieved recognition in the West. He won the Chopin competition in 1955. Today, the piano is something of a passport to the future for the single-child family.
